Planning a fun day at Wrigley Field

Friday, July 31, 2015

To the Editor:

There is a great opportunity to see a major league baseball game on Saturday, Aug. 8. Almost Home is sponsoring a chartered bus trip to Wrigley Field in Chicago for an afternoon game between the Chicago Cubs and the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants.

I encourage all Cubs fans, all baseball fans, and everyone else to join us for a fun day.

Going by bus is a great way to go to a game. No traffic stress, no fatigue stress, great socializing, and even entertainment with prizes.

The ultimate enjoyment is sitting in Wrigley Field watching a baseball game. But you will get even more.

Gail (Smith) is a wonderful host(ess) with treats and optional box lunches from Almost Home. Yours truly will be providing trivia questions with coveted prizes.

This year's trivia categories will include a "Putnam County" choice, as well as Cubs, baseball and other sports, and just plain "other." The Putnam County category will likely include some recent County Fair questions. The "other" category could include questions like "What is SpongeBob's last name?" Or, maybe a state capital or two? You may want to study up on current events, too

Finally, there will be an optional in-game contest with questions like "What inning will the first pigeon or seagull land on the Wrigley Field playing surface?" and "Name one player on either team who will hit a home run."

If you are interested in this event, you should call Almost Home ASAP and reserve a spot on the bus. The cost of the bus trip is only $35 per person. The ticket prices are $73 each for a seat in the bleachers (which is a lot of fun) or $57 each for terrace reserved seats, or you can get your own ticket. This game is a marquee game, which means high demand (Saturday in the summer) and the game will likely be sold out.

This is Saturday, Aug. 8. Gametime is 4:05 (Indiana time). The bus will leave from the fairgrounds promptly at 9:45 a.m., and return after the game estimated at close to midnight.

Come join us for a fun day. Go, Cubs!
