Robert Lee 'Bob' Measel

Robert Lee "Bob" Measel, 66, of Greencastle, went home to be with the Lord at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at Putnam County Hospital in Greencastle.

He was a retired utility operator with Eli Lilly and Company Clinton Laboratories with 27 years of service.

He was born Feb. 19, 1949 in Oneida, Ky., to the late Otis V. Measel and Virginia Roberts Measel Craft.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Mary Sue Sabens Measel, whom he married March 26, 1993 in Waveland.

Also surviving are one son, Rob Measel of Indianapolis; four daughters, Amy (Scott) Ceshker of Genoa City, Wis., Sandra (Bob) Murdoch of Muncie, Lindsay (Justin) Klinkerfuss of Brownsburg and Megan Measel of Terre Haute; a brother, Gene Measel of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Dobrin Measel, Madison, Callie and Carley Ceshker, Kayla Surber, Felicity Davis, Sellina and Roger Murdoch; one great-grandchildren Ella Mae Murdock and Kason Wolfe, on the way.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rondall Measel, on June 16, 1964 and a daughter, Monica Lea Measel, on Jan. 16, 1978.

He was a 1967 graduate of Turkey Run High School.

He was also a heavy equipment operator and owner of Bob Measel Trucking.

He was a member of Harvest Fellowship Church in New Market and Covered Bridge Antique Power Association.

He enjoyed antique cars and raising miniature cattle. He always displayed genuine kindness, honesty and strength in all he did for others. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and believed in doing your best in everything you set out to do.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., Rockville, with the Rev. Glen McFarland and Rev. J.D. Bowman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, north of Hollandsburg.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
