Price to address Monday Defenders of Liberty session

Tuesday, August 4, 2015

Dr. William Price, retired optometrist and current educator, will be the featured speaker at the Greencastle Defenders of Liberty meeting on Monday, Aug. 10.

The meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport, 102 Ballard Lane, Greencastle.

During his 10-year practice in Lebanon and his 33 years in Frankfort, Dr. Price did almost all of the kindergarten school vision screening and was the only one doing vision screening on preschool children. He regularly gave eye health and vision talks to school hearth classes.

After his retirement, Dr. Price read all of the textbooks in his area high school and was shocked at the information in them and the lack of important facts. Always having an interest in American history, he began working on projects to educate our youth about the truth of their heritage. It is his belief that if the young do not know what liberties our founders gave them, and at what price, they will not know when they are losing them. Realizing that the youth will be our future leaders, he created a 4-H Project, "Our Constitution's Heritage," which was launched this year in Boone County. He is trying to help as many students as he can understand liberty, its reward, and sacrifice, and the importance of defending it.

There will be a display of the history projects made by the 4-H participants.

The public is invited to attend this meeting and 4-H'ers have a special invitation.

The Greencastle Defenders of Liberty meet on the second Monday of each month and are close to completing their fifth year educating the public on issues concerning all Americans.
