County Jail

Four people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

* At 10 a.m. Dustin Martin Tippin, 39, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and driving with a suspended license.

* At 2:40 p.m. Billy Wayne Greer, 52, Poland, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

* At 4 p.m. Shawn Anthony Christianson, 43, Greencastle, was charged with probation violation.

* At 9:40 p.m. George Allen Stone, 51, Spencer, was booked in for invasion of privacy.

City Police

A reported shoplifting at the East Side Dollar General store was investigated recently by Greencastle City Police officers.

At noon Sunday, Capt. Chris Jones was called to the store on Indianapolis Road, where he arrested Nicki Davis-Rigney, 28, Greencastle, and Destiny Conover, 19, Cloverdale, on theft and related charges.

The two women reportedly put items in their large purses and attempted to leave without paying.

Davis-Rigney reportedly took a phone charger, flashlight, rechargeable speaker, eye shadow and blush, valued at $18. She is also charged with possession of a syringe.

Conover is accused of taking bandannas, valued at $5. She is also charged with possession of paraphernalia.

Both women were taken to the Putnam County Jail.

Four recent traffic citations were issued by city officers.

* At 1:10 a.m. Sunday, Shelby Skirvin, 21, Russellville, was cited by Sgt. Charles Inman.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, Skirvin was cited for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

* At 4:57 p.m. Friday, July 30, Tyler Harris, 20, Coatesville, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Nick Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Harris was cited for 50 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 30, Aaron Green, 18, Bainbridge, was cited by Officer Josh Smith.

Stopped on Round Barn Road, Green was ticketed for having an expired license plate.

* At 10:55 a.m. Friday, July 30, Natalee Hessler, 36, Stilesville, was ticketed by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Hessler was cited for having an expired license plate.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to one property-damage crash on Tuesday.

At 7:23 a.m., Cassandra L. Tiedemann, 26, Cloverdale, was traveling on Cool Evening Court in a 2004 Chevrolet. She told Deputy Adam Hull she was nearly hit by a van pulling out of a driveway and had to stop in the road.

Tiedemann said as she began to follow the van, it started to back up quickly. In response, Tiedemann also put her vehicle in reverse to avoid getting hit, but backed into a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by John T. Martin, 55, Cloverdale, as it turned into a driveway.

Martin also told Hull the van was driving recklessly and Tiedeman was just trying to avoid the collision.

The driver of the van was not located.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with four medical calls and responded to one fire recently.

* At 1:29 a.m. Thursday, GFD responded to a structure fire at Heartland Automative, 300 S. 10th St.. Upon arrival, the department found heavy smoke in the dashboard molding area caused by materials falling on top of the oven. The fire was extinguished with no injuries. Damage was unknown.
