Breastfeeding celebration Aug. 11 at Robe-Ann Park

Friday, August 7, 2015

August is National Breastfeeding Month, which marks the signing of the Innocenti Declaration signed 25 years ago by World Health Organization and Unicef policymakers at "Breastfeeding in the 1990s" in Florence, Italy.

The aim of this document is to create an environment globally to empower women to breastfeed exclusively for the first six months and continue to breastfeed for two years or more.

To mark the occasion locally, Johnson Nichols Health Clinic is hosting a Breastfeeding Celebration from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.

The celebration is open to all prenatal women and breastfeeding moms and their families.

There will be food, games and free raffle items.
