Woman uninjured when car overturns in east side accident

Two utility poles and the station sign in front of Speedway at 1157 Indianapolis Road Monday morning when a woman hit them with her car. Although her 2010 Chrysler Sebring overturned in the accident, Geneva McCammack was uninjured.

A motorist on the city's east side was fortunate to walk away uninjured after her car overturned Monday morning.

Geneva McCammack was westbound on Indianapolis Road passing through the intersection with 10th Street at approximately 5:45 a.m. when her car went up on the curb for an unknown reason.

The 2010 Chrysler Sebring then struck a utility pole and the Speedway gas station sign.

One of these collisions apparently caused the vehicle to become airborne, as it struck a second utility pole, this one at a much higher point than the first.

Not only did the impact break the pole, but it also overturned McCammack's vehicle in the roadway.

A good Samaritan helped McCammack from her vehicle before the arrival of emergency personnel. She was uninjured in the accident.

Greencastle Police Officer Eric Vaughan investigated the accident, with assistance from other officers.

City fire crews also responded to the scene for debris clean up.

Story will be updated with more information.
