Open Class events a product of volunteer efforts

To the Editor:

The Putnam County Fair has ended for 2015. It was all possible due to the hard work and many volunteer hours.

The Putnam County Fair Queen and her court attended and brought enthusiasm to our events. We are grateful to the Jack and Shirley Dalton Foundation for sponsoring our Bakers' Best event. The Putnam County Extension Homemaker clubs put many hours in assisting in all phases of the events, including set-up and tear-down.

We appreciate the exhibitors, who brought so many different and wonderful items (over 650).

Two clubs, Club 16 and Cloverdale Daytime Darlings, presented the Family Fun Day program. The theme was "Life is a Circus." Author and speaker Philip Gulley was the main speaker, along with the 4-H dogs and handlers putting on a great show. Great job, ladies.

Our Bakers' Best Auction was very successful due to our many entries and generous bidders. Thank you. Many thanks to Jeff Rich and Darwyn Nelson for making our auction so much fun as well as profitable.

Even though the 2015 fair is over, we and all members of the Fair Board will start planning for next year's fair soon.

Again, many thanks to all involved and to the public that visited with us.
