WEST TERRE HAUTE -- The South Putnam boys' tennis team did not fare too well Tuesday after coming away with a victory Monday.

The Eagle tennis team looked good against Sullivan after South Putnam's trip down I-70 for the West Vigo Invite over the weekend.

The Eagle boys went 1-1 in each of the matches at West Vigo for a 5-5 score. After that performance, South followed up with a win against Sullivan 4-1.

SPHS coach Zach Love said that team can't get too down on itself with so many matches coming with little time to practice. The Eagles certainly got the message, earning four wins to start the busy week.

Josh Stewart and Thomas Fanning won easily in the No. 1 and No. 3 slots respectively, while Noah Emmerick had to battle in each game before taking the victory 6-4 and 7-5.

The No. 1 doubles team of Dylan Drawbaugh and Jacob Lorimer failed to come away with the win but put up a valiant effort losing 6-2 in both sets.

Zach Rayce and Hunter Croan continued their good start going, 6-2 in both of their sets.

The victory at home was followed by a tough road loss West Vigo. Though the Eagles went winless, the No. 2 doubles was still a bright spot, taking the Vikings to a tie-breaker in the first set 6-7 (4-7) before falling.

South Putnam has one more match Wednesday at conference and division rival Northview, before taking a well-deserved eight-day break.
