Russellville to celebrate Roundup event
RUSSELLVILLE -- The annual Russellers' Roundup celebration is scheduled this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13.
All events will be at the Russellville Community Center with breakfast served both mornings from 8-11 a.m. featuring homemade cinnamon rolls. Lunch/dinner will be available beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Registration on Saturday the 5K walk/run is at 7:30 a.m. A $20 donation gets you a Russeller's Roundup T-shirt and a free breakfast. The 5K begins at 8 a.m. Also at 7:30 a.m. will start the registration for the free PhotoWalk and the walk will begin at 8 a.m.
On Saturday the Amish will be present with baked goods, produce and crafts. The 100-mile motorcycle ride registration begins at 10 a.m. and goes to 11:45 a.m. The ride begins at noon, and one gets a free meal.
Registration is at 11 a.m. for an ATV and dirt bike rodeo. The rodeo begins at noon behind the community center. For questions about the ATV Dirt Bike Rodeo contact Donald Bannon at 765-307-8424.
In the gym on Saturday at 2 p.m. will be a baby and Little Miss and Mister contest.
Interested persons should contact Andrea Winn at 765-592-7020 to register. Registration cost is $1. All children are to be dressed in denim for the contest. Other events for Saturday include a talent contest at 3:30 p.m. Contact Rhonda Bixler at 765-366-2776 for information. Finishing up the entertainment in the gym will be the Alvin Little Band at 5 p.m.
Corn hole registration is $20 per team. Jim McGaughey is in charge of this event. Persons may call McGaughey at 765-401-1261 for questions.
Sunday's events will feature church service at 11 a.m. in the gymnasium. Registration for the car and truck show begins at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m. For questions on car show contact Larry Finchum at 765-676-5914.
The Smartsburg Pickers will be the Sunday afternoon entertainment, starting their program at 1:30 p.m. in the gym and playing for a couple of hours.
New at this year's roundup are the 5K, motorcycle ride, photo walk and dunk tank. The entertainment is free to the public.
Some of the food items on the menu for purchase are fish, tenderloin, ham and beans, barbecue, coneys, potato salad, slaw and homemade pie.
Mike Simpson will have his antique tractors on display.
Both Saturday and Sunday will include food vendors, crafts booths, cotton candy, snow cones and lemon shakeups.
Another attraction will be the smokehouse.
