National Night Out committee says 'thanks'

To the Editor:

On behalf of the National Night Out Committee, we are proud to announce that over 1,500 community members attended the 9th annual event on Tuesday, Aug. 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Greencastle Robe-Ann Park. Hot dogs, pizza, snow cones, apples, popcorn and drinks were again shared with all attending.

A big thank you to our National Night Out Knight who always makes an appearance. The weather was absolutely perfect.

This event would not be possible without the sponsorship of so many community agencies. We continue to be humbled by their sincere and generous contributions: Anthony's Pizza, Bloomington Wonder Lab, Bounce House Fun Rentals, Butler's L.P. and Fertilizer, Casey's General Store in Roachdale, Chandler's Farm, Charlie's Beefcake Burgers, Children's Museum - Indianapolis, Children's Bureau - Community Partners, Culligan of Putnam County, Dance Workshop, Duke Energy, Feline Rescue Center, Garl's Bike Shop, Greencastle Christian Church, Greencastle Kiwanis, Greencastle McDonald's, Greencastle Parks and Recreation and Aquatic Center, Hendershots Service Center, Jean Holder DDS, John Hennette DDS, Kroger's, Monical's Pizza, Monster Mini Golf, Old National Bank, Papa Johns Pizza, Putnam County Salvation Army, Putnam County Hospital, Putnam County Health Department, Putnam County Comprehensive Services, Putnam County PIE Coalition, Sky Zone, Splash Island of Plainfield, Taylor Made Awards, Teachers Credit Union, Terre Haute Children's Museum, United Way of Putnam County and West Central Contracting.

Over 30 community organizations donated time and energy in support of this powerful community outreach and our mission of keeping Putnam County's children safe and healthy. A special thank you to all of the wonderful community volunteers who donated their time. Thank you Tonya Sanders of WREB for broadcasting live from our event each year and to the staff of Robe-Ann Park, your service throughout the entire process was a real blessing.

Words cannot begin to express our sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the committee who willingly volunteered their time and energy to help organize this annual outreach: Christy Glass, Kari Plessinger, Melissa Turner, Jenna Harden, Jenna Nees, Jennifer Cannon, Lori Lucas, Teresa Parrish, Samantha Richardson, Renee Marsteller, Sonny Stoltz, Elizabeth Butts, Darcy Hendershot, Holly McFadden, Sandy Runner, Tammy Hunter, Patti Harmless, Jerrod Baugh, Rod Weinschenk, Phil Cornelius, Kim McMains, Dan McMains, Shelly Chadd, Jim Maxwell, Carl Singer, Sandy Runner, Dominique Gibson, Brian Hopkins, Brittney Bartlett, Brad Hiatt and Jeff Mace.

We're convinced this annual event is a night for our community to stand together to promote drug and alcohol awareness, safety and unity. National Night Out showcases the fundamental importance of police partnerships and citizen involvement in our fight to build a safer community.

We look forward to bringing to Putnam County the 10th annual fun filled and exciting event in 2016. We hope to see you there.
