GCC's annual Fall Fashion Swap set for Saturday

Sunday, September 20, 2015

What started nine years ago as a small gathering of women at Greencastle Christian Church has grown into a community outreach, with GCC hosting more than 300 women at their most recent event.

This Saturday, GCC will once again open its doors to ladies age 18 and over for the Fall 2015 Fashion Swap. Clothing drop off begins at noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, with the official program kicking off at 1 p.m.

The Fashion Swap provides an afternoon of "Faith, Fashion and Fellowship," with a program that includes light snacks, worship music, great giveaways, and of course, loads of free clothing.

This year, local musician, songwriter, and worship leader, Bobbie Lancaster, will inspire guests through word and music as she shares her prodigal story, and challenges women to get real.

Donations of women's clothing items, jewelry, shoes, bags and accessories will be accepted on the day of the event from 12-12:45 p.m. Items are also accepted at the church office Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. with extended hours on Friday, Sept. 25 through 6 p.m.

All items will be sorted and organized on racks and tables to create a "shopping experience" for the guests. No one will leave empty-handed.

Items remaining after the event will be donated to the Rockville Correctional Facility, with professional wear going to the Fathers and Families Center in Indianapolis.

Ladies are invited to join even if they do not have items to donate.

Returning guests will note a new configuration for this event, with worship and message in the sanctuary, and the clothing portion of the event moved to the multi-purpose room. All parking for the event will be in the south lot. Guests should follow signs for clothing drop-off, if they have donations on the day of the event.

No childcare will be available at this event. Only guests 18 or older will be admitted.

Greencastle Christian Church is located at 620 Primrose Lane in Greencastle.
