Two candidate forums slated for city election

The Greencastle League of Women Voters, WGRE Radio and the Banner-Graphic are co-sponsoring two Candidates Forum for the Greencastle community in advance of the upcoming city election.

The first one will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at Watson Forum in the Pulliam Center for Contemporary Media (corner of Locust and Elm streets) on the DePauw University campus.

The forum will also be broadcast live on WGRE radio and on Greencastle's local cable access Channel 3. The first forum will feature candidates running for City Council in Wards 1-4.

Debating at the Oct. 7 forum will be: Danny Mesecher (R) and incumbent Adam Cohen (D), candidates for City Council First Ward; Stacie Langdon (R) and Brian Cox (D), candidates for City Council Second Ward; Harold Barger (R) and Steve Fields (D), candidates for City Council Third Ward; and incumbent Tyler Wade (R) and Tanis Monday (D), candidates for City Council 4th Ward.

The second forum will be staged Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. at Watson Forum and will feature candidates running for mayor, clerk-treasurer and City Council at-large.

Debating at the Oct. 28 forum will be: Haywood Ware (R) and William Dory (D), candidates for mayor; incumbent Lynda Dunbar (R) and Eric Wolfe (D), candidates for clerk-treasurer; incumbent Mark Hammer (R), Wally Hinkle (R), Harry Maginity (R), Gary Lemon (D) and Dave Murray (D), candidates for City Council at-large.

At the conclusion of each forum audience members will be allowed to ask questions of the candidates.

Refreshments will be served.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
