Celebrate Golf Lovers Day with disc golf event Oct. 4

Sunday, September 27, 2015

Another forgotten holiday that golf enthusiasts look forward to is National Golf Lovers Day, a day to leave the office early and head to the greens.

The Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department is doing just that, but they're going to the greens of Big Walnut Sports Park to tee off on the disc golf course.

Not a tournament, perse, but a chance to play with others on the new and official 19-hole disc golf course.

Try your hand and at the end of your game, report your score and pick up your prize, an official Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department mini-driver.

The program will be Sunday, Oct. 4 from 1-4 p.m., starting at the south shelter at Big Walnut Sports Park. Fee is $5.

If you had just played the night before at the park's Glow Throw Tournament, it would be a great time to get in a little practice and a chance to search for those lost discs for the darkness of the Glow Throw.

For more information persons may contact the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department at 653-3395 or email pcornelius@cityofgreencastle.com.
