Glenda Bell Combs

Glenda Bell (Little) Combs, age 75, of Franklin, passed away Sept. 30 at Johnson Memorial Hospital.

She was born Jan. 30, 1940 at Saint Elizabeth Hospital to Glenn and Velma (McKinley) Little in the town of Lafayette.

Glenda and Charlie lost their father at young ages when he was in 1945 during World War II leaving Velma to raise the girls on her own. Glenda grew up in Indiana where she graduated from Buck Creek School.

While in her high school years she met the man of her life and best friend Russell Combs. They became high school sweethearts on Aug. 14, 1957. Russell and Glenda were married in Cataract, knew each other for 60 years and were blessed with a marriage of 58 years.

Glenda was blessed to have her children and grandchildren live close by throughout her lifetime. Glenda is survived by her devoted husband Russell; daughter Gwen and husband Joe; son Keith and wife Gloria; and loving sister Charlene. Glenda was blessed to have 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services for Mrs. Combs will be held Monday, Oct. 5, 2015 at 1 p.m., Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at cds@whitakerfuneralhome.net.
