County Jail

Two people were booked into the Putnam County Jail on Thursday.

* At 9:21 a.m. Nathan Ryan Hill, 23, Coatesville, booked in on a warrant for sexual misconduct with a minor.

* At 1:17 p.m. Carolyn Mitchell, 30, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a warrant for operating never having received a license.

City Police

Two Cloverdale women were arrested on theft charges Thursday night, Greencastle City Police report.

Kelly Renae Curnett, 24, and Alyssa Jane Carter, 22, were arrested and lodged in the Putnam County Jail after a reported shoplifting incident at the Greencastle Walmart store Thursday night.

Officer Matt Huffman was called to the superstore at 8:45 p.m. after Curnett and Carter were reported to have stuffed miscellaneous clothing items into a diaper bag to avoid paying for them.

Huffman listed $263.29 worth of clothing, including baby clothes, bras and other undergarments.

In another incident, a 26-year-old Greencastle man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for failure to stop after an accident.

Officer Josh Smith arrested Josephus A. Crank at a South Indiana Street residence and lodged him in the Putnam County Jail after he reportedly fled the scene of a two-vehicle accident at Seminary and Indiana streets.

A 1997 Mitsubishi Montero, driven by Crank, reportedly struck the rear of a 2008 Mazda that was stopped at the stopsign and driven by Ellason Freeman, 18, Evansville.

Total damage in the 4:53 p.m. accident was estimated at $1,000-$2,500.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to one recent property-damage accident.

* At 6:09 a.m. Thursday, Patricia M. Miller, 35, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 36 in a 2016 GMC Terrain just east of County Road 490 West when her vehicle hit a deer.

Deputy Anthony Brown estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to two dispatches Friday morning.

* At 7:15 a.m., GFD assisted with cleaning up the scene of a property-damage accident at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Highway and 10th Street.

* At 9:15 a.m., GFD investigated a fire alarm at 1306 S. Bloomington St. The alarm was caused by cooking.
