LaVaughn Patten

LaVaughn Patten, 88, Cloverdale, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born Dec. 5, 1926 in Owen County, and was the daughter of the late Harold H. "Banty" Smith and Eva Madonna (Hart) Smith.

She married Robert "Bob" M. Patten on Aug. 23, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 2008.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Patten and wife Joyce, Cloverdale; daughter-in-law, Pattie Patten, Cloverdale; sister, Ellen Davies and Bill, Cloverdale; brothers, Max F. Smith and Anita, Cloverdale, Harold H. "Red" Smith Jr. and Maxine, Quincy, and Michael L. Smith and Marsha, Gosport; grandchildren Matthew Patten and Hallie, Aaron Patten and fiancé Michelle, Travis Patten and Morgan and Kyle Patten and Edna; her great-grandchildren, Maya and Rory; and her sisters-in-law, Annabeth Smith, Greencastle, Rita Smith, Cloverdale, and Patty Drook, Indianapolis.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Mark Patten, and her brothers, Elvin Boyd "Epp" Smith and

Delmas Joe Smith.

She was the former co-owner/operator of Smith Farm Machinery in Cloverdale.

She was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ.

She loved to travel, attend auctions and go out to lunch at any time with family and friends. She took much pride in her family and home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 7 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Cloverdale Church of Christ and/or the Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department.
