Peggy L. Ortel

Peggy L. (Buffington) Ortel, 61, of Center Point, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 at Community East Hospital, Indianapolis.

She was born on May 24, 1954 in Jasper, Ind., as the daughter of Vonnie and Elizabeth (Abel) Buffington.

She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1972.

Peggy married Mark A. Ortel on June 30, 1991 in Louisville.

She worked for Time Warner Cable for 15 years. Peggy was a volunteer and helped start the 911 Pet Rescue.

She loved reading, crocheting and playing on the computer.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Mark Ortel of Center Point; parents, Vonnie and Elizabeth (Abel) Buffington; son, Chris (DeAnna) Bloomer of Indianapolis; siblings, Debbie Martin of Plainfield, Lisa Langdon of Spencer, and Doug (Rebecca) Buffington; mother-in-law, Mildred Ortel of New Palestine; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jackson Bloomer; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Melvin Ortel.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 2-6 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory, 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.

Private services will be held at a later date.
