Melba M. McGuire

Melba M. McGuire, 82, Roachdale, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 at her residence.

She was born on May 19, 1933 in Dana, Ind., to the late Wilbert and Iva (Jones) Downs.

In 1951 she married John D. McGuire in Hopewell, Ind. Mr. McGuire survives.

Melba graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1951.

She worked on the family farm with her husband as well as at North Putnam High School, where she helped in the cafeteria.

She was a member of New Maysville Community Church where she played the piano and organ for more than 60 years.

She is survived by her husband, John D. McGuire, Roachdale; three sons Michael McGuire, Roachdale, Marion McGuire, Roachdale, and John (Linda) McGuire, Roachdale, two daughters, Kathy Owens, Roachdale, and Jolane Baker, Texas; grandchildren Michael Wade, Amanda, Devon, McGuire, Katie Schiewer, Matthew, Loren McGuire and Brodey Jay McGuire, and one sister, Grace Elliott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at New Maysville Community Church, 6817 E. CR 900 North, New Maysville, with Pastor Larry Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in New Maysville Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at the church on Friday, Oct. 9 from 5-8 p.m.
