Park to host Halloween 5K Road Run/Walk Oct. 31

Thursday, October 15, 2015

The previous organizers of the annual Halloween Fun Run have retired, so the Greencastle Park and Recreation Department has added the popular Halloween activity to its fall program lineup this year.

The Halloween 5K Road Run/Walk will be staged Saturday morning, Oct. 31 with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the 5K starting at 10.

Like the July 4 Rokicki 5K the run/walk will begin and end at Shelter No. 5 in Robe-Ann Park and travel the streets of Greencastle with a loop through the DePauw University campus.

Participants may choose their race -- runners or walkers -- and their age division: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and over.

Registration fee is $20 per person if registered by 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 and $25 the day of event.

Costumes must be family appropriate and safe for running. Running shoes required. Trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each age group.

Registration forms are available at the Putnam County Public Library, Greencastle Pediatric Dentistry and Greencastle City Hall.

Registration forms will be accepted the morning of the race.

For more information, persons may contact the Greencastle Parks and Recreation Department at 653-3395.
