Melanie Sue Ann Brookshire

Melanie Sue Ann (Pflueger) Brookshire, 36, of Roachdale and formerly from Brazil, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital after a long and valiant fight with cancer.

Melanie was born June 25, 1979, in Clay County, the daughter of Mark and Jane (Snow) Pflueger.

Melanie graduated from Northview High School with the class of 1997 and later from Indiana State University with a degree in elementary education.

Following college, Melanie worked at the preschool center for St. Mary's of the Woods College. Melanie had been working at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, in admitting, since 2006.

Melanie loved scrapbooking and photography. She also enjoyed taking walks, with her husband at state parks, working crafts and antiques and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Pflueger; a sister, Leslie Pflueger; paternal grandparents Herman and Rosella Pflueger and maternal grandparents David and Agnes Snow.

Melanie is survived by her husband, David Brookshire, whom she married Sept. 14, 2014; her mother, Jane O'Dell and husband Melvin of Brazil; a stepbrother Doug O'Dell and wife Marcy of Murray, Ky.; a niece Hallie as well as a host of extended family members, co-workers and friends.

Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, on Wednesday, Oct. 20 from 4-8 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 at the funeral home on with Pastor Jeff Bridgewater officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
