The WIC volleyball crossover games pitted Putnam County rivals and old WCC rivals against each other Saturday when South Putnam fell to Cloverdale and Greencastle beat Cascade.

North Putnam in the third-place game fell to Sullivan in three sets.

The South Putnam team has not fared well this season and Cloverdale has been up and down and coming off a loss to Linton-Stockton. The Clovers capitalized early and won in three sets, 25-11, 25-21 25-16.

CHS was led in kills by Tori Combs and Christyn Willis each with eight. Savannah Jones led the team with 14 set assists. Hannah Ehman led with 14 digs.

"I thought we played well," CHS coach Kathy Moore said. "We passed well which led to over 30 kills. Defensively we had four blocks and many digs. We had a mental lapse in the second set but turned it around and finished the set. This coming week we will prepare for our sectional match against Southmont next Saturday."

Greencastle had to pull out a tough one to start the match with Cascade but moved past it and won in three sets 26-24, 25-14 and 25-16.

"We started off a little slow," GHS coach Maggie Walters said. "I was proud of the team for fighting back in the set. They took their momentum from the first set to really pull away in the second and third."

The Lady Tiger Cubs were led by Allison White and Brynne Shuee with nine and eight kills. Lydia Trout led with 29 assists and Kenlee Johnson had 16 digs.

North Putnam fell to Sullivan in three sets 25-23, 25-10 and 25-20.
