Nettie O. Pettit

Nettie O. Pettit, 94, of Greencastle, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015.

Born May 29, 1921 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of William and Velma (Ralston) Duncan.

She was a graduate of Roachdale High School.

Nettie had worked as a seamstress for the Angwell Curtain Factory, and previously at Coca-Cola, RCA and had babysat.

She had owned the Double D Tavern.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Women of the Moose.

Survivors include her children, Ronnie Vermilion of Cloverdale, Jerry Vermilion of Greencastle, Danny Vermilion of Greencastle, and Debbie (Steve) Burk of Reelsville; a brother, Lloyd (Louise) Duncan of California; two sisters, Katherine (Lawrence) Thompson of Plainfield and Maxine of Crawfordsville; several grand-, great-, great-great and great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Steve Ray Vermilion; four grandchildren; five siblings and a daughter-in-law, Neva Vermilion.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. on Monday until time of service at the funeral home.
