Take Me Home

Sunday, October 25, 2015
Visitors to the Putnam County Animal Care and Control Shelter open house on Saturday found a lot of positives at the newly reopened facility. From the renovated building to new, brightly painted walls to new holding, grooming and veterinary equipment for the animals, the positives were evident when receiving a tour from one of the Humane Society of Putnam County volunteers. What visitors did not find was a wide variety of animals available for adoption, but that's good news in and of itself. Adoptions have been going so well at the facility on State Road 240 east of Greencastle that only a handful of dogs and cats remained Saturday afternoon. One of these, at least as of 3 p.m. Saturday, is Barry (above), a labrador-pit bull mix. For more information on the shelter or adoption procedures, call 653-1943. (Banner Graphic/JARED JERNAGAN)
