County Jail

Six people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 5:12 p.m. Saturday, Shylor Konrad, 24, Paragon, was booked in for a local warrant.

At 9:01 p.m., Kristi Jo Lewis, 53, Fillmore, was held for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

At 10:30 p.m., Diana Jean Martin, 44, Martinsville, was arrested for a probation violation.

* At 11:35 a.m. Monday, Alan Dale Devellen, 40, Cloverdale, was arrested on a pair of failure to appear

At 2:30 p.m., Susan Marie Burrows, 33, Brazil, was booked for failure to appear.

At 3:05 p.m., John Ryan Sanders, 32, Greencastle, was held for possession of a controlled substance.

City Police

Three recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 4:46 p.m. Sunday, Walter Kevin Reiss, 40, Cloverdale, was arrested by Officer Josh Smith.

Taken into custody on the McDonald's lot, Reiss was lodged in the Putnam County Jail on a Putnam County warrant for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, along with operating without ever having received a license.

* At 9:49 p.m. Friday, Joshua Ryan Bakehorn, 37, Greencastle, was arrested on Tennessee Street by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

Charged with public intoxication and lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Bakehorn registered .24 percent blood-alcohol under portable breathalyzer testing.

* At 8:48 p.m. Friday, Mark Allen Miller, 55, Greencastle, was arrested for criminal trespassing at the Speedway gas station at Round Barn and Indianapolis roads.

Lodged in the Putnam County Jail, Miller was also wanted on a warrant for the same charge.

Three property-damage accidents were investigated recently by GPD officers.

* At 4:44 p.m. Monday, a minor two-vehicle mishap was reported on Berry Street near College Avenue.

Officer Josh Smith reported that a 2007 Jeep Liberty, driven by Emily Sutherlin, 24, Greencastle, struck the rear of a 2000 Volvo driven by Joyce Dixon-Fyle, 62, Greencastle.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

* At 12:53 p.m. Sunday, another minor mishap occurred on the parking lot at Jackson's Family Restaurant on Indianapolis Road.

Officer Nick Eastham reported that Arlene Jarvis, 74, Greencastle, was attempting to park her 2011 GMC Terrain in front of the restaurant and sideswiped a parked 2014 Chevrolet Impala, owned by Mary and Bobby Stockwell, Roachdale.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

* At 3:40 p.m. Friday, a two-vehicle accident was reported at Indianapolis Road and Fawnview/Percy Julian Drive.

Lori Smith, 52, Greencastle, was southbound in a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country van, Office Eastham reported, when a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, driven by Linda Allen, 63, Brazil, entered her path and Allen tried to turn left off Indianapolis Road onto Percy Julian Drive. She told Officer Eastham she thought she had a yellow turn arrow at the time.

Total damage was listed at $5,000-$10,000.

Smith was cited for failure to prove financial responsibility.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department investigated several accidents recently.

* At 12:12 p.m. Thursday, Donald Short, 76, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 825 East in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado.

Short advised Lt. Donnie Pettit he fell asleep, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, leave the north side of the road and enter a ditch.

His passenger, Jo Short, 68, was treated by Operation Life for a neck injury.

Damage was listed at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 8:35 p.m. Friday, Ronald G. Palmer II, 19, Cloverdale, was westbound on U.S. 40 near County Road 850 East in a 2005 Nissan Sentra when he approached a deer in the roadway.

Palmer told Deputy Ken Rozelle he tried to steer right to avoid impact, but the deer went in the same direction, running into the driver's side front fender.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,501.

* At 8:42 p.m. Friday, Michael J. Wilde, 30, Kaukauna, Wis., was westbound on County Road 100 South in a 2013 Nissan A35.

Wilde advised Deputy Steve Smith he approached a curve and tried to slow down. However, he misjudged the degree of the turn and his car left the road, hitting a fence.

The driver and passengers refused medical treatment.

Damage was listed at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 8:45 a.m. Saturday, James G. Woodsmall, 57, Crawfordsville, was northbound on U.S. 231 near County Road 1100 North in a 2015 Chrysler 200 Limited when a deer entered the road.

Woodsmall advised Deputy Matthew Biggs the deer ran into the front passenger-side quarter panel.

Damage was listed at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 6:30 a.m. Monday, Tona Ogden, 55, Greencastle, was westbound on U.S. 40 east of State Road 75 in a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu.

Ogden told Lt. Pettit she hit a deer that had entered the roadway.

Damage was listed at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:15 a.m. Monday, Kris Reinhood, 44, Geneva, was northbound on U.S. 231 just north of U.S. 40 in a 2012 Nissan van.

She advised Lt. Pettit she struck a deer in the road.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department responded to several dispatches recently.

* At 3:27 a.m. Saturday, GFD assisted the Cloverdale Fire Department with a structure fire at the Travel Plaza, 1032 N. Main St.

* At 12:01 p.m. Saturday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 304 S. Indiana St. The alarm was caused by cooking.
