Tuesday, October 27, 2015

Navigators at Johnson Nichols Health Clinic will again be helping consumers get health insurance coverage when the Marketplace Open Enrollment begins on Nov. 1.

According to The Department of Health and Human Services more than 1,012 people in Putnam County have enrolled in a Marketplace insurance plan since the start of the Affordable Care Act in 2013. Out of those 1,012 consumers, 921 are receiving financial assistance.

Those consumers who are already enrolled can be automatically re-enrolled in their same plan, but are encouraged to go back to the Marketplace to view new options and make sure they are enrolled in the plan that is best for them.

The fine continues to increase for those who are not covered, $695 per person or 2.5 percent of consumer's income whichever is greater.

Navigators are also continuing to help enroll consumers eligible for the expanded Medicaid plan for adults, HIP 2.0. In-person assistance is available at no cost and financial assistance is available to help lower monthly premiums. Person may call 653-6171 to schedule an appointment with a navigator.

Open enrollment will continue until Jan. 31.
