County Jail

Eleven people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Taren Ray Proctor, 27, Greencastle, was arrested for probation violation.

At 1:27 p.m. Charles Walter III, 22, no city listed, was lodged at the jail for failure to appear.

* At 12:12 a.m. on Wednesday, Taylor Lee Cooper, 24, Reelsville, was charged with operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

At 3 a.m. Laura Jo Lowther, 45, Gosport, was booked in for operating while intoxicated.

At 8:30 a.m. Jason Michael Wallace, 34, Poland, was arrested for probation violation.

At 9:30 a.m. Delilah Marie Willard, 29, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

At 10:40 a.m. Michelle Renee Pettit, 41, Greencastle, was charged with trespassing.

At 6:30 p.m. Kelly Leann Brown, 44, Greencastle, was booked in on a warrant for disorderly conduct and battery.

At 7:30 p.m. Annae Deshon Brandon Harris, 25, Greencastle, was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

At 9:45 p.m. William Lawrence Sibbitt Jr., 53, Coatesville, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

City Police

An early morning disturbance at a local apartment building Wednesday resulted in the arrest of a Coatesville man, Greencastle City Police reported.

Ulysses Lewis, 19, was arrested by Officer Eric Vaughan and lodged in the Putnam County Jail for probation violation.

Lewis was one of three underage men who were reportedly drinking alcohol when Officer Vaughan responded to the disturbance call at Roban Apartments on Bloomington Street.

Now facing a summons into court along with Lewis on minor-in-consumption charges are Steven Walker, 20, and Juan Popoca, 19, both of Greencastle.

Two recent traffic citations were also issued by city officers.

* At 12:21 p.m. Monday, Larry Nesbit, 67, Coatesville, was ticketed for speeding by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel.

Stopped on Albin Pond Road, Nesbit was cited for 49 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 1:15 a.m. Oct. 22, Casey Walker, 20, Mooresville, was cited by Reserve Officer Seipel.

Stopped on U.S. 231 South, Walker was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies investigated four recent property-damage accidents.

* At 7:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Anthony B. Hyde, 21, Greencastle, was northbound on Lafayette Street in Cloverdale, approaching the stopsign at Robert Weist Street in a 2004 Dodge Avenger. Anthony L. Anderson, 53, Cloverdale, was eastbound on Robert Weist, attempting to turn right onto Lafayette Street in a 2006 Dodge Durango.

Anderson told Capt. Tom Helmer a westbound vehicle had its high beams on and temporarily blinded him. He turned right, failing to see Hyde's vehicle and hitting the left front and side with the left front of his own vehicle.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 11:40 a.m. Chance W. Merrell, 19, Bainbridge, was eastbound on U.S. 36 just east of County Road 300 East in a 1996 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

Merrell told Deputy Jake Harrington he lost control on wet pavement, veering off the south side and hitting a concrete wall.

The car then rotated off the wall, crossing both lanes of U.S. 36 and overturning in a ditch on the north side.

Merrell was treated at the scene by PMH ambulance for elbow bleeding.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

Harrington was assisted at the scene by Lt. Donnie Pettit.

* At 10:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Taylor L. Cooper, 24, Reelsville, eastbound on U.S. 40, approaching Reelsville in a 2008 Dodge Ram.

Cooper told Deputy Virgil Lanning he believed he fell asleep, as he had been up for two days.

The truck crossed the median and westbound lanes before hitting a guardrail. The truck then went airborne over the guardrail and hit several trees, coming to rest facing westbound.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

Cooper tested at .19 blood alcohol content on the portable breath test and at .17 on the certified test. He was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 12:12 a.m. Wednesday for operating while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

* At 4:20 a.m. on Thursday, Larry R. Davis, 57, Cloverdale, was eastbound on County Road 1000 South in a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt when a deer ran into the road.

Davis told Deputy Matt Biggs he was unable to avoid the deer, hitting it with the front bumper and damaging the front end.

Damage was estimated $2,501-$5,000.

Cloverdale Police

The Cloverdale Police Department issued several citations recently.

* Leslie N. Gambill, 24, of Cloverdale, was cited for false or fictitious registration.

* Kelly K. Echard, 17, of Indianapolis, was cited for speeding, 47 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* Leder E. Rebolledo, 20, of Indianapolis, was cited for speeding, 49 mph in a 30-mph zone

* Carol A. Reed, 54, of Indianapolis, was cited for speeding, 60 mph in a 45-mph zone.

* Carey S. Tanner, 20, of Greencastle, was cited for speeding, 50 mph in a 35-mph zone.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department assisted with one medical run and responded to several dispatches recently.

* At 12:29 p.m. Sunday, GFD removed a cable line from the roadway at 707 E. Walnut St.

* At 8:24 p.m. Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1 Taylor Place. The alarm was caused by smoking in a room.

* At 9:59 p.m. Tuesday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 414 S. Indiana St. The alarm was caused by cooking popcorn.

* At 11:39 p.m. Tuesday, GFD responded to a report of overheated wiring at 401 S. Jackson St. The issue was caused by a ceiling fan which had shorted out.

* At 12:12 a.m. Wednesday, GFD investigated a fire alarm at 415 Anderson St., which was caused by cooking.
