Defenders of Liberty to hear Delph Monday

On Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, the Greencastle Defenders of Liberty met for the first time at Autumn Glen.

A small group of concerned citizens passed out flyers around town announcing the upcoming meeting. To their surprise, an attendance of more than 90 people came to hear information concerning our government and issues affecting all citizens of the United States.

On Monday, Nov. 9, the Greencastle Defenders of Liberty will meet at 6:30 p.m.. to celebrate its sixth anniversary at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport, 102 Ballard Lane, Greencastle. The featured speaker will be Indiana State Sen. Mike Delph, who has represented central Indiana since 2005 in Senate District 29, which includes portions of Boone, Hamilton and Marion counties.

Delph has represented Hoosiers in Central Indiana since 2005. He serves Senate District 29, which includes portions of Boone, Hamilton and Marion counties.

Delph serves on three standing committees, the Senate Committee on Commerce and Technology, the Senate Committee on Judiciary and the Senate Committee on Utilities.

As a conservative, Delph has led the fight in the Senate to make Indiana government more transparent and accountable while opposing tax increases on hardworking Hoosiers. He is a champion of education reform, local government reform, child protection, conservation and veterans and military issues.

He received his juris doctorate from Indiana University along with three other degrees, a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Science and Master of Public Affairs.

Professionally, Delph works as general counsel for CarDon and Associates.

For more than 14 years, he has served as an officer in the Army Reserve, holding the rank of major as a medical service corporal and military intelligence officer.

The public is invited to attend this and all monthly meetings on the second Monday of each month featuring experts on government, business, history, healthcare, and current events. If you were a part of that first meeting, or if you are a regular attendee, or if you have never been to a monthly meeting, you may join in this celebration.

The Mission Statement of the Greencastle Defenders of Liberty is: To restore limited government, fiscal responsibility and accountable representation through citizen activism and education, in order to preserve the Constitution of the United States of America.
