Parke County man dies in accident on U.S. 36

NEW WINCHESTER -- A 46-year-old Parke County man was fatally injured in a Tuesday morning accident on U.S. 36 near State Road 75, just east of the Putnam-Hendricks county line.

Three vehicles were involved in the 7:25 a.m. collision on U.S. 36 just west of State Road 75, Capt. Amanda Goings of the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department reported.

Contact in the collision was apparently slightly offset from directly head-on, authoritites said.

Mitchell Beck of Rockville, was confirmed dead on the scene, authorities said.

The other two drivers involved, Jeffrey Jones, 21, of Indianapolis, and Donna Stonebraker, 43, of Rockville, were uninjured in the accident.

U.S. 36 was closed most of the morning between SR 75 and Hendricks County Road 775 W near the Hendricks-Putnam County line.
