Gloria Ann Poynts

Gloria Ann Poynts, 86, Crawfordsville, and formerly of Parkersburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2:18 a.m. in the Williamsburg Healthcare.

She was born April 6, 1929 in Indianapolis to Chester and Elsie (Summers) Ryan. She married William E. "Bill" Poynts on April 6, 1947 in Parkersburg. He preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1991.

Gloria was a homemaker and farm wife; was the owner, with her husband, of Poynts Garage and Grocery in Parkersburg for 10 years; and was a real estate agent for Woodall Realty, Patterson Realty and Action Realty.

She was a 68-year member of the Parkersburg Christian Church; a 1947 graduate of Roachdale High School; and her hobbies included reading, sewing, cooking and most of all being with her grandkids.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Jim) Hargis, Ladoga; grandchildren Rachel Maddox, Ladoga, Amber (Nick) Grimes, Ladoga and Cody (Kandora) Hargis, Crawfordsville; great-grandchildren Ashlynn, Landon, Owen and Bennett.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger, in 2014; her parents; and her sister, Wanda Ryan.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Parkersburg Christian Church, 86 E. County Road 1150 South, Ladoga (Parkersburg), with Pastor Rich Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Hill Cemetery.
