Harold Thomas 'Tom' Boswell Sr.
Harold Thomas "Tom" Boswell Sr., 85, of Greenwood and formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. He was born on March 25, 1930 in Cayuga to Walter Charles Boswell and Hazel Fern Tharp Boswell.
Tom attended Clinton Falls Community Church and Sanctuary Community Church in Greenwood and was a longtime member of Greencastle Eagles Aerie 4388.
Tom served as president of the Association of Multiple Handicap Children during Governor Otis Bowen's administration and was recognized as a Sagamore of the Wabash.
He retired from Central State Hospital in Indianapolis with 36 years of service, where he was an electrician.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy Miller; his wife of 38 years, Margaret; two brothers, Jack Boswell and Leo Boswell; and a son-in-law, John Pingleton.
Surviving are his children Sherry Hansell and husband David, Vicki Sillery and husband Tim, Rosie Semak and husband Mike, Betsy Pingleton, Cindy Barger and husband Hiram Jr., Tom Boswell Jr., Sandy Smith and husband Jerry, Deede Henderson, Jerry Boswell and wife Madonna, Eddie Henderson and Stacy Boswell; 32 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; brother Larry Boswell and wife Shelby; and two sisters, Sue Martin and Jane Johnson.
A celebration of Tom's Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 21 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home with Pastor Karl Sparks and Pastor Doug Caister officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Fillmore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
