Eagles get third place

(back, from left) Coach Debbie Steffy, Ava McHugh, Bree Sutherland, Drew Steffy and Coach Jill Newton The South Putnam seventh-grade girls' basketball team recently competed in the Indy Hoops seventh-grade league and tournament and finished third in league tournament play. The girls finished the regular season league with a winning record and then beat Decatur Central 31-17 to open the seventh-grade tournament (scoring was A.Steffy 22, McHugh 3, Sutherland 2, Bumgardner 2, Custis 2). The team then lost to Zionsville in the semi-finals 21- 16 (scoring: McHugh 4, Sutherland 4, A. Steffy 2, Bumgardner 2, Custis 2, Egold 2).
