Downtown Cloverdale is now covered by an emergency siren. Duke Energy and Endeavor Communications spent Friday afternoon mounting the siren in the town park. Putnam County Emergency Management Director Tom Helmer said the siren will be tested the first Friday of each month at 11 a.m., except in the event of inclement weather. Helmer noted his appreciation to Duke and Endeavor for providing manpower, as well as Putnam County Maintenance Supervisor Tom Gilson for his assistance. He added the placement of the siren would not have been possible without the financial help of the Town of Cloverdale. The EMA director's next goal is to get a siren near South Putnam Community School Corporation.
