Kent DeWayne Fitzsimmons, 62, of Roachdale, went to be with his Lord on Thursday Dec. 3, 2015 at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis surrounded by his family.

He was born on Oct. 4, 1953 in Crawfordsville to Eugene Mike and Gladys M. "Riddle" Fitzsimmons.

Kent graduated from North Putnam High School in 1971 and later Indiana Baptist College in Indianapolis. He was a supervisor at Heritage Products in Crawfordsville, where he worked for 24 years. He was the owner of A1 Construction Company. He served as the pastor at the New Life Baptist Church at Browns Valley for 25 years.

He loved to spend time with his family, serving the Lord, his church, the outdoors and history, especially the study of Indian Heritage.

He married Beverly Tungate on Sept. 21, 1974 in Lizton and she survives. Also surviving is his mother Gladys Fitzsimmons; his three daughters Heather (Allen) Pruett of Indianapolis, Leah (Randy) Taylor of Roachdale and Casie (Alan) Martin of Roachdale; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his siblings Becky (Larry) Nichols of Fort Wayne, Joyce (Will) Northcutt of Pittsboro, Rodney (Cathy) Fitzsimmons of Haiti and Gary (Rebecca) Fitzsimmons of Indianapolis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, sister Cathy Jamison and grandson Michael Taylor.

Funeral Services will be held at the New Life Baptist Church of Browns Valley, 4554 W. CR 950 South, Waveland, on Monday Dec. 7 at 11 a.m. Visitation will on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the church. Pastor Alan Farmer will officiate and burial will be in Roachdale Cemetery.

Memorials in his honor may be made to the New Life Baptist Church and envelopes will be provided at the church
