Gleaners food giveaway moved to fairgrounds community building

As originally scheduled, the Gleaners Senior Mobile Pantry will be in Greencastle on Thursday, Dec. 10, but the location has changed to the Putnam County Fairgrounds Community Building.

Previous giveaways to seniors age 55 and older have been at the Greencastle National Guard Armory, which can not be used for several months due to security concerns.

Instead, the event will be on the west side of the Community Building from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday. Judy Miller of the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry announced that the Gleaners visits will remain at the fairgrounds until at least March.

Besides being 55 and older, participants must also be Putnam County residents. Anyone interested should bring boxes and identification for verification of eligibility.
