Defenders of Liberty to hear Cindy Noe Monday

Friday, December 11, 2015

The Greencastle Defenders of Liberty will meet on Monday, Dec. 14 at the Dixie Chopper Business Center at the Putnam County Airport, 102 Ballard Lane, Greencastle.

Featured speaker for the 6:30 p.m. public meeting will be Cindy Noe, who served in the Indiana House of Representatives 2001-12. She will cover the Electromagnetic Pulse/EMP threat to the U.S. electrical grid from both a terrorist or geomagnetic disturbance force.

Cindy Noe

When Noe first became aware of the threat to our electrical grid by an EMP in 2009, several people looked for a state-level answer to this danger and none seemed available. In the last couple of years experts in this field have solidified measures a state can take to "keep the lights on" when finding ourselves dealing with such a situation.

An EMP, whether a natural event or caused by an attack by a foreign nation or power, could devastate the country, leaving us without lights, heat, communication, transportation, food and water, and subject us to untold suffering for years. Virginia is the leader in addressing this issue, although it has not been given high priority in the U.S. government. Noe and others in Indiana are working with the leaders in this field such as Dr. Peter Pry, Frank Gaffney and Ambassador Hank Cooper.

While a legislator, Noe chaired the Committee on Family, Children and Human Affairs. She also served on the Education, Ways and Means, and Government Reduction Committees.

Currently, she serves on the board of Character Council of Indiana, is legislative adviser to the Indiana Home Educators Association, and a member of the National Federation of Independent Businesses, where she serves on its Leadership Council. She also is a board member of Indiana Right to Life and a lobbyist for them on state issues.

Noe has devoted much of her life to public service and is an active member of her community. She was the first Lugar Series graduate to be elected to the Indiana House of Representatives.

She has been an elected precinct committeeman since 1994.

She lives with her husband of 43 years in Indianapolis.

The public is invited to attend Monday's meeting and all monthly meetings of the Defenders of Liberty held on the second Monday of every month.

Featured speakers are regularly experts on government, business, history, healthcare and current events.
