Herbert Gordon Hinkle

Herbert Gordon Hinkle, 72, Brazil, passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 in his residence.

He was born Sept. 12, 1943 in Putnam County to Herbert G. Hinkle Sr. and Olas (Gardner) Hinkle.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two children, Russell Hinkle and Jennifer Mason, two stepsons, Steven Knight and wife Jolene, and Randy Knight and girlfriend Krystal Padgett.

He is also survived by three sisters, Sally Heller, Judie and Dean Foster, and Joyce and Denise Bradshaw; as well as 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a plethora of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Miller and Janice Warren.

He retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he worked at several different places, most recently the Eye Specialists of Indiana.

He enjoyed working, fishing, going to the casino and most importantly, spending time with his family.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19 at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., Brazil, with Pastor Thomas Stone officiating.

A military funeral honor will begin the service, provided by the American Legion Post 2, the VFW Post 1127 and the funeral honors from the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.
