BG: WhWhat is different this year about being a senior?

JL: Having the other wrestlers look up to you and teaching the basics and advanced moves if they are on that level.

BG: Who are some of your biggest supporters off the court?

JL: My family and my grandpa Bill Smith come to a lot of meets. It's motivating. It makes me feel like they want to come out and support.

BG: What is your favorite thing about your teammates?

JL: How into the competition they get and how releaxed they are. They kind of go against each other but they have fun with it.

BG: How different is it when you are focusing on different sports?

JL: The competition is different. Wrestling is one-on--one. It's a match against that guy. Strategies can be different. Tennis and pole vaulting, pole vaulting especially, you are doing your best every time. There is not much fluctuation from meet to meet.

BG: Do you have a favorite moment playing at South Putnam ?

JL: I made it to regionals in wrestling last year. That was exciting to get to place in sectionals and advance. Then in Pole vaulting last year I hit the 12-6 mark at South and that was a personal goal for me.

BG: What are your post high school plans?

JL: I plan to pole vault in college. I'm going to go to Ivy Tech for my base-level engineering classes and then probably go to Rose (Hullman) or Purdue.

BG: What got you interested in engineering?

JL: Chemistry, calculus, biology and mechanics.
