Virginia Leroy Roberts Dunn

Virginia Leroy Roberts Dunn, 90, Greencastle, fell asleep in death Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at home.

She was born March 10, 1925 in Grand Junction, Colo. She was the daughter of Aubrey Lee Roberts I and Grace Ruth Cox Roberts.

She married James W. "Dubby" Dunn on Aug. 7, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2008.

She is survived by a sister, Jerry Frew, Overland Park, Kan., and a brother, Aubrey Lee Roberts II and wife Olga, San Antonio, Texas.

She is survived by her six children, James Michael "Mike" Dunn and wife Tammy, David Lee Dunn and wife Janice, Judy Diane Bayberry, Susan Elaine Dunn, Tracy Marie Rhine and husband Rick, Timothy Andrew "Timmy" Dunn and wife Stephanie; along with 13 grandchildren, Joshua, Robert, Jessica, Laura, Amy, Aaron, Courtney, Katie, Drew, Carly, Spencer, Austin, Kasey and several great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was affectionately called Grandmother and Nan.

She graduated from Owensboro (Ky.) High School in 1942 and then attended UCLA for one year. After that she went to Saint Anthony's nursing school in Terre Haute.

She was a registered nurse at Putnam County Hospital, retiring in 1987.

She enjoyed painting and art work, working crossword and cryptogram puzzles and telling a good joke.

She was known for her hospitality and her love for her family and friends. Her main interest was studying the Bible and sharing what she learned with others in our community. In fact, she may have knocked on your door at one time or another.

She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Greencastle where she was an active member since July 11, 1954.

She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 2 from 1-3 p.m. followed by the memorial service at the Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witnesses, 110 N. 10th St., Greencastle.
