County Jail

One person was booked into the Putnam County Jail on Wednesday.

* At 5:30 p.m. Nick Franklin Marietta, 56, no city listed, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

Sheriff's Department

Putnam County sheriff's deputies responded to three recent property-damage accidents.

* At 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, Laura J. Weiss, 35, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 200 North, just west of County Road 25 East, in a 2007 Dodge Caravan. Cassidy J. Frost, 18, Bainbridge, was eastbound on 200 North in a 2001 Dodge Neon.

Weiss told Lt. Donnie Pettit that Frost was left of center while cresting a hill and she could not avoid being sideswiped. Frost told Pettit that both vehicles were left of center.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 5:12 a.m. on Wednesday, Mark A. Sanderson, 63, Terre Haute, was eastbound on U.S. 40 near Manhattan Road in a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant when he hit a deer.

Sanderson told Deputy Anthony Brown the animal initially hit on the front left headlight housing, causing the deer to go airborne. The animal then struck the passenger side of the windshield and flipped over the roof.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 6:08 p.m. Danielle R. Dobson, 28, Reelsville, was northbound on County Road 800 West in a 2013 Subaru Legacy when she hit a deer.

Deputy Brown estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

City Police

Four recent traffic citations were issued by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Anthony Tucker, 36, Hidalgo, Ill., was ticketed by Reserve Officer Billy Wallace.

Stopped on Blooomington Street, Tucker was cited for following too closely.

* At 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, Derek Chastain, 26, Greencastle, for ticketed for speeding.

Stopped by Reserve Officer Jes Seipel on Veterans Memorial Highway, Chastain was cited for 52 mph in a 40-mph zone.

* At 3:27 p.m. Tuesday, Lewis Hilburn, 36, Greencastle, for ticketed for speeding.

Stopped on Fillmore Road by Officer Nick Eastham, Hilburn was cited for 53 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 7:08 a.m. Tuesday, Jessica Langley, 22, Greencastle, for cited for speeding.

Stopped on Fillmore Road by Officer Eastham, Langley was ticketed for 53 mph in a 30-mph zone.

City Fire

* At 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a gas leak detected at 209 S. Vine St. An issue with the resident's stove was determined to be the problem.

* At 11:58 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at 71 Queenswood St. The vehicle's occupant drove into another resident's garage, striking a propane tank and breaking a gas line in the process. GFD shut off the gas.

* At an undisclosed time on Thursday, GFD responded to an inverted motor vehicle accident at 418 E. Washington St. GFD helped in the cleanup process and controlled traffic until the roadway was clear. Though the vehicle had flipped onto its top, no injuries were reported.

* At 5:28 a.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 1306 S. Bloomington St. The alarm system had malfunctioned and was determined to be the source of the issue.
