Pauline 'Polly' Kelly

Pauline "Polly" Kelly, 89, of Crawfordsville, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2016 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health-Crawfordsville.

She was born March 24, 1926 in Owen County to Adam L. and Nancy Elizabeth (Routt) Nees.

She was a graduate of Cloverdale High School.

After graduation, she moved to Crawfordsville to work at R.R. Donnelley Printing Co. She also was employed at Indiana Printing Co. and The Messenger Crier at different times.

While working at Donnelley's, she met a handsome man named Bill. She and William R. "Bill" Kelly were married on Feb. 8, 1947.

Polly was very artistic and creative. She made beautiful quilts. The last one was made this past summer for a great-nephew. She also loved to make her own greeting cards. Many of her friends and relatives have received one-of-a-kind birthday cards from her.

She liked to write and was the winner of a writing contest sponsored by the Journal Review newspaper a few years ago. She was also a die-hard Pacers fan.

She is survived by her daughters, Jane (Dennis) Myers, Granger, Ind., and Linda (Montel) Woodard, Roachdale; grandchildren Josh (Janine) Myers, Mishawaka, Gabe Woodard, Roachdale, and Sarah Myers, South Bend; six sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Marjorie Smith, brothers Dora Gordon "Bo" Nees and Roger Nees and grandson Daniel Myers.

She will be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10 at the Russellville Community Center. A eulogy by Leonard Largent Jr. will be followed by a meal and time for sharing memories of Polly.
