County Jail

Several people have been booked in at the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 8 p.m. on Friday, John Dickson II, 37, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail by court order for domestic battery and battery with bodily injury.

At 10:10 p.m. Shane Allen Willey, 25, Cloverdale, was booked in for motor vehicle theft.

* At 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nicole Montgomery, 19, Cloverdale, was arrested on a warrant.

At 1:45 a.m. Brittney Thacker, 30, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a pair of warrants.

At 2 a.m. Brian Anthony Bartley, 25, Greencastle, was taken into custody for probation violation.

At 8:05 a.m. Alexa Rae Marshall, 29, Terre Haute, was charged with failure to appear.

At 3:30 p.m. Cody Mason Poissant, 26, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail for operating while intoxicated.

* At 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, Jeremy Dale West, 39, Greencastle, was arrested by court order for violation of release terms.

* At 3:15 a.m. Matthew Joseph Cole, 20, Greencastle, was taken into custody for possession of a synthetic drug, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a syringe.

At 3:40 a.m. on Monday, Nicole Rae Gage, 37, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail for two counts of possession a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, possession a synthetic drug, possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia and on a warrant.

At 10 a.m. Damon Jon Miller, 39, Terre Haute, was booked in on a warrant.

City Police

What began as the report of a shoplifting incident Sunday evening ended up with a Putnam County woman facing five criminal charges, Greencastle City Police reported.

City officers were called to the Speedway station at Indianapolis Road and Judson Drive at 6:55 p.m. after a convenience store clerk reported a shoplifting attempt.

The suspect, Erica Brooke Clodfelter, 32, Bainbridge, was reportedly seen putting cookies in her pocket and later allegedly said she was hungry and homeless.

Clodfelter was booked into the Putnam County Jail on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a syringe and trafficking a controlled substance.

Appearing in court Monday, she was formally charged with possession of a syringe, possession of a controlled substance and theft.

She was also hit with a petition to revoke bond in a previous unlawful possession of syringe case.

Judge Denny Bridges ordered Clodfelter held on $5,000 cash bond.

Cloverdale Police

Benjamin J. Witt, 28, of Brazil, was cited for speeding 70 mph in a 55-mph zone at U.S. 231 and 1200 South.

Quentin M. Thompson, 20, of Indianapolis, was cited for speeding 86 mph in a 55-mph zone at U.S. 231 and 800 South.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to three recent automobile crashes.

* At 6:51 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, Jason Waller, 39, Brazil, was northbound on U.S. 231 approaching U.S. 40 in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala.

Waller told Lt. Gregg Slover he tried to stop for the traffic light but was unsuccessful on the icy roadway.

His car slid into two stopped vehicles at the intersection, a 2011 for F250 driven by Philip L. Ellis, 31, Brazil, and a 2004 Ford F150 driven by Joshua J. Rolfson, 27, Plainfield.

All three vehicles were damaged, but able to be driven from the scene. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

* At 5:40 a.m. on Friday, Marke Butler, 47, Rockville, was eastbound on U.S. 36 approaching County Road 800 West in a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica when he hit a deer.

Deputy Mike Downing estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 11:02 p.m. on Saturday, Amy Lewis, 48, Greencastle, was southbound on U.S. 231 approaching County Road 500 North in a 2006 Toyota Sienna when she hit a deer.

Deputy Downing estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to 19 dispatches and one medical assist.

* At noon on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 504 E. Seminary St. The alarm was reset after it was determined to have been set off by construction dust in the area.

* At 12:37 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 408 S. Locust St. The alarm was reset after it was determined to have been set off by construction dust in the area.

* At 3:22 p.m. on Saturday, GFD performed a carbon monoxide investigation at 224 Hillsdale Ave. GFD monitored for carbon monoxide and found nothing.

* At 4:46 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. The alarm had been set off due to cooking.

* At 8:03 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 313 E. Hanna St. but was disregarded en route.

* At 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, GFD performed a carbon monoxide investigation at 309 E. Franklin St. (Beyond Homeless Shelter). GFD detected gas upon arrival and temporarily evacuated the building until GFD secured the gas-shutoff valve.

* At 1:52 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 800 S. Locust St. The alarm was found to have been set off at a pull station, GFD was disregarded by the DePauw Campus Police Department before leaving the station.

* At 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 807 S. College Ave. but was disregarded en route.

* At 4:44 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 420 Anderson St. The alarm had been set off by cooking on the third floor. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station.

* At 1:15 p.m. on Monday, GFD performed a list-assist at 114 Autumn Glen Dr.

* At 2:48 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 807 S. College Ave. A pull station on the first floor had been unnecessarily activated. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station.

* At 3:42 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 509 S. Locust St. The alarm had been set off due to smoking. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station.

* At 4:30 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a motor-vehicle accident at 2270 South CR 150 South. No injuries were reported. GFD assisted in the cleanup of fluids and debris from the roadway.

* At 2:03 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 904 S. College Ave. The alarm had been set off due to construction dust in the area. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station.

* At 6:38 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 330 Greenwood Ave. The alarm had been set off due to cooking. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station.

* At 7:24 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a gas leak at 215 Wood St. A gas leak around the residence's water heater was detected. GFD monitored the issue to prevent further leaks.

* At 9:28 p.m. on Monday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 940 Indianapolis Rd. (McDonald's). The manager detected a smell of smoke. The alarm in the restaurant's dining room tripped due to a loose belt within the air handler on the roof. McDonald's was temporarily evacuated until the owner turned up the heat on the thermostat and GFD reset the alarm.

* At 10:19 a.m. on Tuesday, GFD was disregarded en route before assisting in a high-angle rescue at 1007 N. Main St. in Cloverdale. A bucket-lift jammed, trapping a utility worker in the air until CFD retrieved him.

* At 12:57 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 313 E. Hanna St. The alarm had been set off due to cooking. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station.
