County Jail

One person was booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 3:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Kyal Anthony Campbell, 24, Poland, was booked in for probation violation.

Sheriff's Department

The Putnam County Sheriff's Department responded to a pair of recent property-damage crashes.

* At 7:56 a.m. on Tuesday, William G. Horton, 50, Selma, N.C., was backing into a driveway at 1550 W. CR 25 South in a 2013 semi tractor registered to Howard Transportation. He was pulling a flatbed trailer with approximately 25,000 pounds of lumber.

He told Lt. Donnie Pettit that as he was pulling onto the road, the right rear tire of the trailer struck a concrete post, causing the trailer to overturn near Dunbar Bridge.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Brooklyn G. Buchanan, 17, Greencastle, was westbound on Manhattan Road just east of County Road 300 West in a 2012 Ford Fiesta. Glenn Campbell, 43, Greencastle, was eastbound in a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe.

Buchanan told Lt. Pettit she tried to turn into a driveway and failed to see Campbell's vehicle approaching.

Campbell's vehicle struck Buchanan's in the left rear fender area.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000. Cambpell's vehicle was towed.
