Illinois quarters to be given away at Coin Club event

The first 100 persons in attendance at Monday's meeting of the Putnam County Coin Club will each receive a complimentary 2016 Illinois Shawnee National Forest quarter.

The quarters are the latest issue in the U.S. Mint's America the Beautiful coin series honoring national parks and sites throughout the U.S. and its territories.

The quarters have only been placed into circulation this week. Local coin dealer Julian Jarvis will be providing the quarters to attendees.

The Putnam County Coin Club will meet on Monday, Feb. 8 at the fellowship hall of the Greencastle Church of the Nazarene, 580 S. CR 100 East (Round Barn Road).

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7.
