Joe F. Nowling

Joe F. Nowling, 87, Rockville, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016 at 11:55 a.m. at Clinton Gardens, Clinton, Ind.

Born Feb. 13, 1928 in Mecca, he was the son of J. Frank Nowling and H. June Wann Nowling.

He married F. Joan Guoli on Aug. 21, 1948 in Mecca.

He was a farmer, owned Nowling Shell Service which was located in Rockville, and he retired from Parke County REMC.

He graduated from Mecca High School in 1946.

Joe was a member of the Marshall Federated Church, Parke County Low 12 Club and Parke Lodge 8 F&AM in Rockville.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Nowling of Greencastle and formerly of Bloomington; a sister, Mary Jane McDowell, Rockville; five brothers, Arthur Nowling, Clinton, Donald Nowling, Waynetown, John Nowling, Rockville, Kenneth Nowling and Karl Nowling, both of Indianapolis; six nephews, two nieces and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home, Rockville, with Rev. Don Perry officiating.

Visitation is scheduled for 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Barnes and Rice Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville.
