County Jail

Seven people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, James David Flatt, 31, Roachdale, was taken into custody on a warrant for probation violation.

At 9:56 a.m. Gregory Lewis Nauman II, 31, Greencastle, was booked in on a court order.

* At noon on Wednesday, Robert Howard, 56, Cloverale, was lodged at the jail for probation violation.

At 4:30 p.m. Joshua Aaron Reeves, 42, Fillmore, was booked in for probation violation.

At 5:31 p.m. Shaanna Howell, 35, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail on a warrant.

At 5:45 p.m. Justin Paul Waldridge, 35, Brazil, was taken into custody for theft, residential entry and invasion of privacy.

At 11:35 p.m. David Carl Hutcheson, 48, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail on a warrant.

City Police

Six traffic citations were issued Tuesday by Greencastle City Police officers.

* At 2:35 p.m., Jennifer Detro, 51, Russellville, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Nick Eastham.

Detro was cited on Fillmore Road for 49 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 1:06 p.m., Isaac Case, 35, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Capt. Chris Jones.

Case was stopped on Shadowlawn Avenue for 35 mph in 20-mph zone.

* At 12:45 p.m., Tyler Buttery, 21, Greencastle, was ticketed by Capt. Jones.

Buttery was cited for disregarding a stopsign at Shadowlawn Avenue and Arlington Street.

* At 10:20 a.m., Todd Schmitt, 33, Johnsburg, Ill., was cited by Officer Eastham.

Schmitt was ticketed on Fillmore Road for 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 9:48 a.m., Melissa Woods, 44, Jasonville, was cited by Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Woods was ticketed for 56 mph in a 30-mph zone.

* At 9:20 a.m., Vanessa Leak, 48, Greencastle, was ticketed by Officer Eastham.

Stopped on Fillmore Road, Leak was cited for 51 mph in a 30-mph zone. **Sheriff's Department

Putnam County Sheriff's deputies responded to several recent crashes.

* At 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Donald W. Neville, 24, Brazil, was northbound on Manhattan Road just south of County Road 300 South in a 2000 Lincoln Town Car.

Neville told Lt. Donnie Pettit that his driver's side rear tire came off and rolled into the southbound lane.

Victoria R. Bucklin, 23, Brazil, was southbound in a 2004 Dodge Neon. She told Pettit she could not avoid the tire.

Neville's vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 6:20 p.m. on Monday, Cierra K. Brown, 20, Greencastle, was westbound on State Road 240 at County Road 525 East in a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier.

Deputy Matt Biggs reported that due to the snow-covered road, Brown lost control, leaving the north side of the road and rolling over.

Brown was unable to recall the events leading up to the crash. Both she and a passenger were taken to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life for complaints of pain.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to four dispatches and performed one lift-assist.

* At 8:03 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 405 S. Jackson St. GFD was unable to determine what set the alarm off and cited no problems before returning to station at 8:11 p.m.

* At 9:17 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD assisted the Greencastle Police Department in the removal of a large landscaping object from the roadway at 1316 Indianapolis Rd. A decorative boulder of sorts had apparently fallen from a vehicle.

* At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 208 E. Olive St. The alarm was determined to have been unnecessarily set off by cooking within the residence. GFD returned to station at 2:44 p.m.

* At 10:41 a.m. on Thursday, GFD left station to assist Madison Township Fire with a motor vehicle accident at 2525 West County Road 50 North but was disregarded upon arrival after the occupant was declared to have been removed from the vehicle.
