Six charged in Cloverdale bust

CLOVERDALE -- After a two-month drug investigation by the Cloverdale Police Department and the Indiana State Police, the Putnam County Prosecutor's Office officially filed charges against six people on Monday.

On Feb. 15, the two police agencies and the Avon Police Department oversaw a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Alice Payne, 51, Cloverdale, and her son Clarence Gilmore, 28, Cloverdale. Another controlled purchase of methaphetamine and prescription drugs the following Wednesday, Feb. 17, resulted in their arrest.

Mother and son are both charged with dealing in methamphetamine (Level 3 felony), possession of methamphetamine (Level 5 felony), possession of a controlled substance (Level 6 felony), maintaining of a common nuisance (Level 6 felony), possession of marijuana (Class A misdemeanor) and possession of paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor). Gilmore was also arrested on two outstanding warrants for criminal mischief (Class B misdemeanor).

Shortly after Wednesday's controlled purchase, Alan Manning, 30, Spencer, and Courtney Michalik, 24, Cloverdale, were also arrested after they were seen leaving the residence. A search of the vehicle by CPD and ISP revealed methamphetamine and prescription drugs.

They were both charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Manning is also charged with driving while suspended-prior (Class A misdemeanor).

A search of Payne and Gilmore's apartment on the following Thursday resulted in two more arrests: Andrea Tillberry, 23, Cloverdale, and Wesley Garrison, 33, Cloverdale. They were both charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and visiting a common nuisance (Class B misdemeanor).

The Cloverdale Police Department has also charged the apartment lessee, Tim Amburn, 48, Cloverdale, with maintaining a common nuisance (Level 6 felony), but the Putnam County Prosecutor's Office has not filed charges and he has not been arrested.

The defendants were booked into the Putnam County Jail. The Putnam Circuit Court Judge Matthew Headley heard their initial hearings, and enterned not-guilty pleas on their behalf and appointed six public defenders.
