After awarding an average of $11,700 each to four Putnam County charities and the Putnam County Community Foundation in 2015, 100+Men Who Care of Putnam County will be launching its second year at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at the Inn at DePauw.

An impressive 119 men participated in 2015.

"We were blessed by the participation last year," organization coordinator Scott Davis observed. "These men were excited that their $100 check would become a significant donation to a 100 percent local charity four times a year. All while having fun and without the usual time-consuming fundraising."

Awards in 2015 were made to Imagination Library ($11,400), Beyond Homeless Inc. ($11,600), CareNet ($11,900 and Area 30 Adult Education CNC Program ($11,900).

Currently the board of 100+ Men is beginning renewal of 2015 members and recruitment of additional men wanting to help the dozens of deserving charities located in Putnam County.

The Putnam County chapter is one several 100+ Men Who Care chapters nationally. Following the national model, 100+ Men Who Care meets four times a year to award a big check to a Putnam County 501c3 charity. In addition, a contribution of $100 is made to the Putnam County Community Foundation which provides organizational support and contributes to growing an endowed community fund.In 2016 the fund is projected to grow to $37,500 due to the generosity of the Lilly Endowment Lilly VI GIFT Matching Initiative and a foundation matching grant. The endowment will generate earnings for grants to the Putnam County community forever.

Men from all walks of life and different backgrounds are encouraged to combine fun with their philanthropy by attending their fifth event on April 7, at the Inn at DePauw.
