Eagles and Cougar middle school team face off

The South Putnam seventh-grade girls' beat North Putnam Wednesday night 39-18.

Leading scorers for the Eagles were Chloe Custis and Saydee Proctor with eight points each. Brionna Egold had six points. Chloe Sprinkle, Drew Steffy, and Alex Steffy had four points apiece. Macie Bumgardner had three points and Bree Mahoney-Sutherland had two points.

The Eagles (7-4) play at home in the opening round of the county tourney next Tuesday against North Putnam.

Eighth-grade Cougars defeat Eagles on Thursday

The North Putnam Cougars beat the South Putnam Eagles 30-23 in eighth-grade girls basketball on Thursday night.

North was led by Dana Tennis with 11 points. Hannah Sims scored nine. Baylee Osburn and Clarissa Gibson added four each, while Carissa Jones chipped in with two.

Aubrey Hill led the Eagles with eight points and Leighla Hazlett had six. Lulu Vanihel added four points and Alex Bratcher scored three. Brianna Robinson picked up two points.

The eighth-grade county tournament starts Tuesday
