All-conference teams named

The All-WIC players have been selected as have the All-Sport leaders up to this point in the season. All four Putnam County schools have athletes to be proud of as different players from each sport have been selected as one of the best in the conference.

In girls' basketball, Greencastle seniors Bethanie Burgeson and Allison White both made the conference team, while Eagle sophomore Miranda Bieghler and Cougar senior Taylor Nauert both earned a spot. Cloverdale will be looking forward to three more years of Tori Combs, as the freshman made the All-Conference team.

In boys' basketball, Cloverdale sophomore Jalen Moore and junior Cooper Neese both make the team. Seniors Ryan Coble of GHS and Austin Judy of North Putnam both join the squad, as does the freshman clutch shooter Allen Plunkett from South Putnam.

Greencastle took over the girls' swimming WIC team taking 10 of the 12 events. Corrie Romer took the WIC title in the 200M and 100 free, Amelia Smith took the 50 free and the 100 breaststroke and Mallary Meyer won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke. Grace Gillen won the 500 free. GHS also won all three relays with Meyer, Gillen, Smith, and Romer in the medley, Smith, Jessica Roberts, Sydney Lewis and Gillen won the 200 free relay while Mallary Meyer, Roberts, Abby Meyer and Romer won the 400 free relay.

In the boys' swimming event, South Putnam's Zach Rayce earned the WIC title in the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke. North Putnam also had a good showing with Kavyn Timm winning the diving event, Jonah Creamean taking the 100 fly and Nicholas Young taking the 500 free crown.

Greencastle was the only local team with a blue ribbon in wrestling with Cauy Thomas at 106 taking the title.

In the WIC all-sports race Greencastle is winning overall with 208 points, in front of Edgewood with 192. North Putnam is ninth (99), South Putnam is 11th (87) and Cloverdale is 12th (54). GHS holds the WIC's top spot in the girls' all-sport race while North Putnam, South Putnam and Cloverdale sit at 10, 11 and 12, respectively.

In the boys' race Greencastle is third while North Putnam is ninth, South Putnam is 10th and Cloverdale is 12th.
