Museum pieces

The artwork of dozens of Putnam County students will be on display through Saturday, May 7 at the Putnam County Museum in Greencastle following the opening of the annual Student Art Show Saturday. Joseph Heithaus and daughter Sarah, one of the winners in the competition, take time to admire some of the student creations hanging along the main hallway of the museum at 1105 N. Jackson St. Meanwhile, "Birds," a collaborative piece of art in which Deer Meadow Primary School second-graders like Katherine Kempf, 7, (left) and Bailey Boggess, 8, created the birds, branches and nests under the direction of art teacher Catharine Simmerman has proven to be quite the attention-getter. An estimated 250 people attended the opening.

  • THEY HAVE REALLY GREAT EXHIBITS AT THE MUSEUM, BUT I WISH THEY HAD A BETTER BUILDING...SOMEWHERE WHERE IT COULD BE SEEN BETTER.

  • I had the great pleasure of visiting the meseum for the first time recently. I was amazed at the art work the county student had on desplay. What great talent and imagination! I also felt like I was walking down memory lane when I saw all of the exibits and family mementos. Loved the Chicago Cubs exibit. What a valuable collection! The old telephone switchboard, the washing machine like my great grandma probably used, the old time firemen gear, etc and etc.! Thank you Putnam County for such a wonderful meseum!
